Gently guided by a certified music development specialist, this experience helps mothers sing more clearly and confidently as they become excellent music models for their children. It helps mothers establish a child's initial rhythmic, tonal, & movement vocabulary in a fun, heart-connected way.... while his aptitude is still flexible!
Most importantly, it launches child audiation, the often neglected mental musical instrument that 'plays' all the others.
In 4, short, 10-minute sessions, Musical Mother Tongue invitingly and informally demonstrates how to
- move smoothly to music for optimal learning
- encourage child engagement with the process
- apply the science behind why this works for your child's lifetime musicianship
- start from any or even no music training
- sing two folk songs
- chant two rhythmic poems
What are the requirements?
- Webcam and internet connection
- Space to move freely in view of screen
- Ability to see, hear, and move along with the teacher.
- Willingness to copy simple patterns, songs, and chants from teacher
- Willingness to listen responsively to child
What am I going to get from this course?
- Over 16 lectures and 42 mins of content!
- Mother and child will learn 4 new pieces: 2 songs and 2 chants
- At the end of 4 sessions, caregiver will know how to move, sing, and chant to increase the child's musical vocabulary in his teachable moments
What is the target audience?
- Children age 3 to 5, with their mothers
