Unit 1: Dealing with routine and non-routine waste
Learners will develop their understanding of correct waste management. This will include how to handle and transfer routine and non-routine waste.
Unit 2: Health and safety for the cleaning and support services industry
This unit covers the application of health and safety regulations and legislation appropriate to a wide range of environments. Learners will also develop their skills in maintaining a safe workplace.
Unit 3: Working with customers and others in the cleaning and support services industry
Learners will develop their teamwork skills, including how to communicate positively to create a great working atmosphere.
Unit 4: Infection control, RIDDOR and COSHH in cleaning settings
This unit focusses on the methods used to control the spread of infection in cleaning settings. Learners will also consider health and safety legislation and procedures that must be adhered to when carrying out a cleaning task.
Unit 5: Cleaning of confined spaces
This unit is about maintaining levels of cleanliness when working in confined spaces. Learners will understand the importance of being vigilant against possible hazards and risks that may arise during work activity.
Unit 6: Cleaning of food areas
Learners will develop skills in conducting routine cleaning in food areas including kitchens, food service areas, food manufacturing premises, food production and food retailing.
