About this course
Neurocognitive disorders such as dementia disconnect sufferers from their own lives and from the lives of their loved ones. Sufferers are caught in the present moment, unable to relate to the past or to plan for the future. While having some overlapping symptoms with severe neurocognitive disorders, amnestic disorders (referred to as Neurocognitive Disorder due to another medical condition in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual - 5th edition) relate to the inability to perform simple memory tasks while other aspects of cognition remain intact. This course will discuss the range of neurocognitive disorders, their causes, impact on life, and available treatment options.
