This course is split into manageable parts. These are:
Part A
In this part, learners will gain an understanding of the importance of an individual's communication and language needs, and personal preferences. They will also learn how to reduce barriers to communication and understand the importance of continual personal development in adult social care settings.

Unit 2: Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
Part B
Learners will understand the importance of diversity, equality and inclusion, examining the impact discrimination can have upon working practice and how to reduce it. They will also learn how to recognise signs of abuse and respond accordingly to reduce unsafe practice.

Part C
This part introduces the duty of care required in a variety of health and social care settings, and helps learners understand the overall role of a social care worker. This part will also explain how to provide person-centred care, and why this approach is important in adult social care settings.

Part D
In this part, learners will cover many aspects of health and safety in a social care setting, and gain an understanding of their responsibility to work in safe ways. This includes manual handling techniques, control of hazardous substances and handling sensitive information.

Unit 9: Understand how to handle information in social care settings
