MMMS07 Learning to Use Language

Preschool is a time when language learning noticeably grows. A rich early learning environment includes using objects and visuals to make meaning clear and to invite children to participate in storytelling and conversation. While there are biological components to language acquisition, children learn language to communicate. In fact, one of the major tasks of learning a language is learning to use language appropriately. This course will take a close look at what children need to learn to build language to communication including the functions of language and the importance of storytelling and competent conversation skills.
