Unit 1: Preparing to lead the team

Learners will look at key leadership roles in the workplace including the team leader's role in health, safety, customer service and security, and will examine the benefits of working with colleagues.

Unit 2: Support development of self and team members

This unit covers the performance requirements of the team leader's role and explores how to support team members, communicate objectives and measure progress against objectives.

Unit 3: Communication and the team leader

Learners will look at the importance of effective communication with the team and colleagues, presenting information to a team, giving clear instructions and taking part in a meeting.

Unit 4: Equality, diversity and the team leader

This unit explains how the team leader can support ethnic diversity and support and promote minority groups. It also explores the support disabled team members may require.

Unit 5: Motivating the team

Learners will gain an understanding of the theories of motivation, the use of delegation as a motivational tool, the importance of development activities in motivation and the importance of individual and team recognition in motivation.
