About this course
This course prepares you to pass the Part 1 Exam offered to university graduates by the Institute of Management Accountants in America. If you have a business degree then you have already covered many of the concepts that will be tested. A business degree is not necessary to qualify only a university degree.
There are two computer-based exams offered by the IMA in January, May and September. If you successfully pass them you will earn your Certified Management Accounting designation to add to your resume.
With this program, I have mentored many candidates like yourself who are now CMAs.
The textbook that you would need is Cost Accounting By Charles Horngren.
There are five sections to this course. You will work through each section;read the notes that I will upload to each section and the textbook chapters that I ask you to read. There are lectures on many of topics and demonstration problems for you to go over.
For each section I will upload on a regular basis typical exam questions for you to practice. Become very familiar with answering multiple choice questions. I have over five hundred with which to test you.
I Have created and uploaded three - 3 hour mock exams with 100 multiple choice questions and three one hour practice exam with two essay questions for you to practice.
This course is not a breeze. You should take two months to cover the material and the sample test questions before attempting to write the IMA exam.
Obtaining your CMA designation - believe me - will pay you BIG dividends for the rest of your career. It did for me.
What are the requirements?
- The two textbooks referenced in this course are texts you are already familiar with in your undergraduate courses or if not you can borrow from a business library.

What is the target audience?
- The Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) offers three times a year both Part 1 and Part 2 Certification exams in which if you successfully pass both you will be awarded a Certified Management Accountant designation (CMA). This course covers all the learning outcomes that will be tested by the IMA on the Part 1 Exam. There are over one thousand practice questions designed to prepare you to pass the exam. This course requires a great deal of effort to successfully complete it but I have 40 years experience and am in a position to help you through it.
