About this course
When we are born, our brains have their entire development capacity though the environment greatly influences the course of development. What we eat, how well we sleep, the types of engagement we have intellectually all stimulate the brain growth necessary for cognitive development in our early years and beyond. This course will discuss how the infant brain develops, the role of the brain in cognitive and linguistic development in infants and toddlers, and the characteristics of children's preschool learning that serve as guidelines for early childhood education.
