The job interview can be a very stressful time for most people. Typically, if you're at the interview you want the job, so the best thing to do is be as fully prepared as possible. So we have come up with a checklist of all the things you may need to dazzle the interviewer(s) at you next big job interview.
- Research the company
- Understanding the role
- Practice answers to typical questions - though make it appear that answers haven't been memorised
- Visualise yourself in the interview and the answers you ma give to certain questions
- Enlist a friend of family member to stage a mock interview
- Prepare a clear set of questions you'd like to ask the interviewer
- Practice and get feedback on your body language
- Research the interview's location and take a dry run a day or two beforehand
- Get a good nights sleep the night before the interview
- Prepare smart formal wear the night before
- Plan to be at the interview 10 minutes before it starts
- Appear relaxed by smiling
- Don't chew gum
- Take your CV and covering letter to the interview
- Greet the interviewer(s) with a smile and a warm firm handshake
- Avoid joke telling
- Be positive and enthusiastic about the role
- Avoid poor language and stuttering
- Speak clearly
- Maintenance confident and upbeat throughout the interview
- At the end of the interview that the interviewer(s) for their time
