About this course
The objective of our Online A-Level History Course to develop student's understanding of the significance of history. During this course the student will learn about social, cultural, religious and ethnic diversity through your study of British and non British history and develop awareness of different identities within society. The student will also develop their use of historical terms, concepts and skills and develop reflective and critical thinking.
Online A-Level History Course Structure
The Online A-Level History course will include the following topics:
1. Change and Consolidation - Britain, 1603-1642
2. Historical Issues: Periods of Change - The Impact of Chairman Mao: China, 1946-1976
3. The State and the People - Change and Continuity - Britain 1918-1964
4. Historical Enquiry - Totalitarian Ideology in Theory and in Practice, c1848-c1941
During this course you will use a mixture of lessons, activities, core reading and assessments.

Assessment
The course contains a number of assignments which your tutor will mark and give the student valuable feedback on. These are called Tutor Marked Assignments (TMAs).
Examinations
AS Level
- Unit 1 AS Level Unit One: HIS1D: Britain 1603-1642- Change and Consolidation- Written examination: 1 hour 15 minutes
- Unit 2 AS Level Unit Two: HIS2O: The Impact of Chairman Mao: China 1946-1976- Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
A2 Level
- Unit 3 A2 Level Unit Three: HIS3J: The State and People: Britain, 1918-1964- Written examination: 1 hour 30 minutes
- Unit 4 A2 Level Unit Four (coursework option): HIS4X: Totalitarian Ideology in Theory and Practice, c1848-c1941 (broadly covering the required 100 years)
AS + A2 = A level in History. Both AS and A2 level courses and examinations must be successfully completed to gain a full A level.
