The nationally Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) initial assessment can be undertaken by anyone who needs assessment for core gas (CCN1) and or appliances for the first time, or for those where 12 months has elapsed since their ACS certificate expiry.
The ACS is an industry wide certification scheme that is managed by the UK Accreditation Service (UKAS). It enables operatives to obtain membership in the Gas Safe Register and comprises all areas of gas work, such as domestic NG, LPG, commercial heating, commercial catering, commercial laundry, meter installation and emergency service provision.
The ACS will assess both practical skills and theory. In the event of a fail result, the option to retake the areas where the results were poor is available and most likely for an additional fee.
