About this course

PODCAST (Brain Science): In this interview, Dr. Pamela Greenwood discusses the most recent research on our cognition as our brain ages. She argues that what is most important for cognitive aging is not the actual structural change of the brain but the ability of the aging brain to dynamically change with experience, both structurally and functionally. While we cannot stop the aging process, we are able to mitigate how our brain functions as we age and intervene throughout our development to maximize our brain's ability. This course will discuss how the brain's ability to make changes can ameliorate cognitive aging through lifestyle changes and cognitive training.

Objectives
  • Identify the way the brain changes as it ages
  • Recall what brain changes impact our cognitive ability as we age
  • Define the role of Hippocampus in the brain as it ages
  • Recognize what research has found about the genetic component of how the brain ages
  • Recall the methods research has found to help develop the brain,s cognitive abilities
