What Does an Estate Agent Do?
An estate agent deals with the selling and letting out of properties. If you love looking around new buildings, or people's houses, then this could very well be an ideal job for you.
An estate agent will typically work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm with occasional work on Saturdays. Day to day tasks include liaising with clients informing them of any updates regarding their property, conducting viewings and showing potential buyers or tenants around a property, taking photos and measurements of a property, valuing properties and arranging surveys, managing rented properties.
As an estate agent, your role will involve being both in and out of the office. The role is also very customer facing, involving selling, dealing with clients and also dealing with tenants. It is a role that offers a lot of variety and challenges.
Is Becoming an Estate Agent Right For Me?
An estate agent will require the following skills and attributes:

- Strong sales skills.
- A keen interest in property and the housing market.
- The ability to meet targets.
How Much Can an Estate Agent Earn?
On entry level, an estate agent can expect to earn between £15,000 and £20,000. With experience that can increase to anywhere between £20,000 and £35,000 and often you will be on a basic salary and paid commission for sales targets you meet.
What Qualifications Do I Need To Become an Estate Agent?
There are no qualifications needed to become an estate agent. A strong sales background or customer service background is an advantage.
