What Does a Data Analyst Do?
A data analyst works with numbers to find interpret data, find trends or patterns and report this back for a business to act upon. The numbers a data analyst works with could be anything from sales figures to market research.As a data analyst, you would either collect data or be provided with graphs, charts and tables containing all of the relevant data. You will then find the trends and use the information you find to predict what might happen in the future.
The working hours of a data analyst are usually 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.
You might work in any industry, from local government and education to business, insurance and finance. The job might also involve travelling to locations away from the office in order to collect data.

The starting salary for a data analyst is around £20,000 to £27,000 a year.The salary can rise up to anywhere up to £50,000 depending on your skills and experience.
What Qualifications Do I Need To Become a Data Analyst?
For most jobs you will need a degree in statistics, maths or another subject that has a strong focus on numbers and statistics, such as economics. It is possible that you might be able to get an entry level position with an industry specific qualification.
