Every office workplace has one or the other person or a co-worker who has an annoying behaviour that bothers the whole office environment. Employees have to face each other and share the same place. Some people really don’t keep the proper office ethics and maintain decorum in the workplace. We often see a number of people who don’t mind their own business; instead, they keep poking their legs in everyone’s business. They certainly have many demerits in their nature. Behaviour isn’t an appropriate word here as it can be changed but nature is somewhat developed with continuing the same habitual behaviour and this becomes difficult to change.
Here are what we believe to be the 6 worst types of bad behaviour found in the workplace.
1. The Loud Mouth
Sometimes many of us notice that the culprits have a powerful voice and they don’t use it cautiously. Loud voice has many benefits like in a conference room if a presentation is being delivered with no microphone, this kind of voice can serve really well but if it is used every now and then in the office hours it acts as the biggest annoyance. Noisy employees have the habit of being loud.
Talking loudly is one thing but they even chew their food loudly and talk on their phone in earsplitting decibel. They usually disturb the overall mindset of other workers working in the office.
2. The Talker
The employees, who have the habit to come across various cubicle desks to ask work-related doubts and questions, often land into a conversation taking a new direction that goes out of the topic itself. These conversations are the personal problems, office related or any other that bothers them. These kinds of employees often look for sympathy and shoulder while your work.
Leaving on a polite note, the best way to turn off the conversation is you act uninterested and mould the conversation into a work topic.
3. The Eavesdropper
Every office place has an eavesdropper who can’t help but listen in on every conversation. This person’s line of choice is “I couldn’t help but over-hearing that…”
The eavesdropper loves to hold all the card and have the dirt on every member of staff, which they can use to their own advantage somewhere down the line.
4. The Moaner
There are many employees who are always the complainers at the workplace. They find everything negative about every aspect of their jobs and colleagues. Their presence creates an overall negative environment by the sense of vibrations they send in the atmosphere, which over time can spread and bring everyone else around them down.
5. The Fighter
Many of us usually notice the hard handling employees who end up having a conflict or a big bust up after every conversation. They have an offensive and a contradicting behaviour to every issue. This can lead to a big destruction in the professional relationships can spoil the environment at the workplace.
6. The Office Gossip
The office gossip is the person that spreads everyone else’s news, whether it’s true or not. Hearsay, true or unfounded can quickly spread through the biggest of offices as most people like to know what’s going on. And the more elaborate and juicy the gossip, the quicker it will spread.
This will mean that at some point the person being talked about will sooner or later find out, which will make them feel embarrassed and even betrayed if they told someone they thought they could trust, only to find out that whatever was said is now a topic of conversation at work.
Coming to the conclusion after setting up the above problems, employees who experience this kind of behaviour by the helpless habitual workers should understand that an individual and her/his personality is totally different from his behaviour, therefore, it’s the behaviour that bothers not the personality. So if you have a grudge or hatred towards them, this doesn’t sound justified. On a humanitarian note, take them to a corner and make them understand the office ethics and behaviour skills according to the protocol. They would surely understand their demerits.
