Qualifications available to become a gym instructor

There are a number of training courses available in order to become a gym instructor or a fitness instructor (just another name for the same role) to suit your needs. Gym instructor training courses may be full or part time and even intensive. Gym instructor courses may be offered from a number of training providers or colleges. The gym or fitness instructor course gives you a Level 2 qualification and will enable to you to advise gym members on their workouts as well as write their programs.

What ever the title of a gym instructor course, the basic components should allow you to qualify at Level 2 status on the Register of Exercise Professionals, meaning you can work with a private health club, gym or leisure centre.

Register of Exercise Professionals

Once you are qualified you should register your details with the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs). They are a UK organisation who seek to regulate the health and fitness industry to ensure that the public are protected. They will hold your details so that prospective employers know that you are fully qualified.
