Self Defence Teacher Training Courses

Self Defence Teacher

There are a number of self defence styles, and hence self defence instructor training courses available. The most obvious route into becoming a self defence instructor is to first find a style of self defence or martial art, that you find enjoyable; this could be karate, Krav Maga, Jiu Jitsu, kung fu, kickboxing, WIng Chun or MMA-style. Once someone has participated for a prolonged period of time learning a martial art or self defence they usually become competent in their chosen style. That said, gaining a knowledge and skill set in any form of self defence does not automatically mean that this will translate into participants becoming competent instructors. Being an instructor in any field requires good communication skills, patience and the ability to break down skills, allowing participants to at first mimic and then use learnt skills in practical situations. And the same is true when teaching self defence.

The All Styles Martial Arts Association (ASMAA) offer self defence instructor training courses, allows students to gain the knowledge and skills to teach self defence techiques in a group situation. Other self defence instructor training courses on offer include the BTEC Accredited Self Defence Instructor Certification Course, which runs over 3 days and equips graduates with the skills required to instruct in basic self defence.
